Programme Overview
The NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing (L5DC) is an Ofqual-regulated
qualification that forms the second year of the NCC Education degree pathway.
Building on the knowledge gained at Level 4, the programme develops more
advanced skills in areas such as network security and cryptography, database
development, software development, mobile applications, data analysis and
information systems. The qualification combines academic study with
practical, industry-focused learning and prepares students for final-year
degree top-up programmes or careers in the IT industry.

Entry Requirements
- NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing (L4DC).
- A local or international qualification deemed equivalent to the NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing, subject to prior approval by NCC Education.
- Applicants entering directly at Level 5 may also be considered where their educational background and computing knowledge are appropriate and equivalent to the required level, supported by documented evidence.
- For applicants whose first language is not English, IELTS 5.5 or above (or equivalent) is required.
- Alternatively, applicants may take the free NCC Education Higher English Placement Test administered by an Accredited Partner Centre.
Progression Route
On successful completion of the NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing, students can progress to the final year of a relevant BSc (Hons) top-up degree, including selected NCC Education degree pathways, or apply for entry to Year 3 of suitable university degree programmes. Students may also use the advanced knowledge and practical skills gained throughout the qualification to pursue professional and career opportunities across the computing and IT industry.

Students must complete all four specialist units and choose two elective units.
Learning Outcomes
Students will develop advanced knowledge and practical skills in computing, including network security, cryptography, software development, mobile applications, agile development and data analysis, while strengthening their ability to manage projects, solve complex problems and apply computing principles in professional environments.
Assessment
Assessment is carried out through a combination of assignments and examinations, depending on the unit. Assessments are offered across a number of assessment cycles throughout the year and are designed to evaluate students' theoretical understanding, practical skills and ability to apply computing knowledge. The Computing Project is assessed separately, while all other units are assessed through assignments and/or examinations.
